When in fact yoga therapy is where it all began. Yoga essentially is a method which focuses on bringing harmony between mind and body.Across from what “modern” yoga stands for, one of the practices I personally love to do is vinyasa. For me it is a way of healing and connecting however this might not be for everyone.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1605271264302{margin-top: 50px !important;}”][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Let’s say you are just recovering from an illness, a broken leg or you are traumatized by an event or a severe burn-out. You need time to heal right? Being in a large class with 10/20 other people who are struggling with similar conditions, can one teacher give you what you need at that moment in time?
Nowadays, a greater extent of doctors is referring patients to yoga (and Pilates). Unfortunately, because there still is a lot of unawareness about what yoga is all about. Where physiotherapy is often clear. Yoga is more dependent on the way a teacher teaches and the many styles that exist. Soft, strong, vigorous, spiritual and more.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”468″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1605271336050{margin-top: 50px !important;}”][vc_column]
Back to Yoga Therapy
[vc_column_text]We have a beautiful saying in Yoga Therapy: Where the movement adapts to the individual. Generally, you as a student in a yoga class, need to do what is being shown at that moment. During a Yoga Therapy session, we are looking at what our client needs at that specific moment in time. This is one of the main differences between yoga and yoga therapy. In this way Yoga Therapy is a lot more personal hands on approachYoga therapy has common ground with physiotherapy, counselling and even revalidation. We listen, we give attention, we breathe together, we move together, we create strength and flexibility and there is the emphasis on relaxation.
Hence, we do use typical yoga practices! However, it is much more than that.
Do we use typical yoga practices? Yes, nevertheless it consists of more than just yoga. Depending on your disease or issue we can compose what works for you. This can include Pilates practices, exercises. Even a walk in the park and creating a meal together, whatever could benefit you. To complete our session often we can conclude with a restorative pose and a guided yoga nidra.
